Shiny Toy Guns Show (U of U)

E-mail

Well, lastnight was another great Shiny Toy Guns show. This was the first one I had been to that was outside.

A few days ago Catherine informed me that Shiny Toy Guns was coming to town. I was a little bit shocked because we usually find out long before they come. To find out only a couple days ahead was unusual. Thank goodness I had nothing going on this weekend so on my way home from work I picked up me and Brian a ticket. Catherine got her own the next day because she could get herself one for $5 for being a U student.

We decided that before the show, we would go grab a bite to eat so Brian met up with us at 6 at our work and we headed on up to TGI Fridays on Foothill and had a bite to eat. I had a weird named chicken salad which was better than I was expecting. After some grub, we headed over to the U of U for the show. After finding a parking spot, we headed straight for the Union building and then straight for the bathrooms. I had to pee pretty bad. Once that was taken care of, we hung around for a few minutes to meet up with Jonathan. Jonathan is a guy from work that was gonna try to go to the show with us. He showed up, got himself a ticket and off we went to the entrance to the show.

Once in, we noticed there was a few vendor booths setup and I had this gut feeling that something, somewhere would be free. So, I informed the others that we should walk around a see what we could find. We soon discovered that there were energy drinks being handed out. I can’t remember what kind it was. I think it was Sobe Adrenalines but I can’t remember for sure. Anyway, after we got a drink we went and met up with Catherine’s friend Jason (in picture below). We was a little tough to find since he was already deep in the crowd. We did find him and the 3 of us started working our way up towards him. Once we got up to him, I soon realized that I probably shouldn’t have a drink in my hand in a way crowded situation that could turn into a mosh pit at any moment. So I drank it as fast as I could and got rid of it. Problem with that is now my bladder was gonna be full and I’m stuck in the middle of a crowd. We began working our way closer to the stage as we could. We got pretty far up. Probably 4 people from the security guards infront of the stage. Not bad. Once we got there we just had to wait for the show to start. That proved difficult since it gets extremely crowded and everyone starts pushing. It was so packed you couldn’t move at all. It has been a long time since I’ve felt that squished. Some girls weren’t handling it well and had to crowd surf just to get out. It was pretty bad. Anyway, the show started and it wasn’t getting any less crowded. I couldn’t hear the music very well since the speakers aren’t pointed right up front, and my I was feeling the result of pounding the energy drink so I decided to head out if I could. I worked my way out and hurried to the nearest out house for some relief. After that, I went back the edge of where the crowd started and just watched the show. It was on a hill so I had a good view and a good spot to hear the music. Not long after, Catherine and Brian had made their way out and we met up and just watched the show together. Not long after that, we met up with Jason and we all just hungout and watched the show. This is where most of the pictures of the show were taken that are below.

When the band had come out earlier, I was a big shocked at the beard that Chad (guitar player) had grown. It was Grizzley Adams big. Little suprising. Anyways, we watched the rest of the show and met up with Jonathan after it was all over.  Overall it was a great show.  Of course they played a lot of their great songs and even played some new ones that will hopefully be released soon. It was MUCH better than the last show which was the X-96 Christmas show out at the Saltair.

Wish Christina and the girls could have made it to this show.  Next time I guess. Enjoy the photos below. Sorry for the bad quality.
